I remember my first patient, Joe. Joe struggled with diabetes and was on hundred units of insulin every day. In addition to his diabetes, Joe suffered from various other obesity related medical problems. At the time, I performed a Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass on Joe. The next day, he had normal blood sugar and no longer required any insulin treatments. I almost couldn’t believe this kind of tremendous health change could occur so immediately and last long-term. It was tremendous, and it changed my entire medical path. After treating Joe, I dedicated my life to bariatrics. So, for the last 19 years, I’ve been helping people lose weight and cure their co-morbidities like diabetes and hypertension. Helping patients achieve long-term sustained weight loss and overall better health has been a professional dream come true for me.
