The flexible endoscope is used to place sutures in the patient’s stomach reducing its size and capacity. None of the stomach is removed but it’s structure is reduced to the size of a banana. This allows patients to consume significantly less food, absorb fewer calories and feel full faster.

Following the procedure patients will begin a liquid diet and gradually advance, to a normal, healthy diet. This gives the sutures time to heal.

In addition to the reduced amount of food the patient is able to eat, a commitment to a healthy diet and regular exercise will assist with long-lasting weight loss.
