NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana ranks in the top five of states with the highest rates of adult and childhood obesity, according to The State of Obesity. Overweight and obese employees’ average medical costs are more than 50 percent higher than normal-weight employees with an almost 75 percent higher rate of missed work days.
